Do Brides care the size of there wedding album?

I thought I figured it all out, 2 years ago I had a dozen Brides in a row love the larger 12x12 album, then I ran into several in a row that love the 10x10 better.

When I used film from 1990 to 2005, the only album size I sold besides parent albums, was a 12x12 with picture inserts. I sold hundreds of them! When the digital book or coffee table books came out, so did over dozen different sizes.

I currently offer a 6x6 and 8x8 Parent Albums and a 10x10 and 12x12 Bridal Album.  One of the main reasons Brides didn't like the 12x12 album, the weight. I found a new album company 2 years ago that have a 12x12 album with a huge difference in weight and my current brides are all loving this size once again. With that said, starting in September 2018, I will be offering 3 packages to make it so much easier for my Brides and Grooms to decide what they need.  I am removing the 6x6 and the 10x10 album from my price lists, but any Bride and Groom that bought this album prior to September will still be able to receive it. As the Album companies still sell them, I just decided not to.

Another thing I thought I had figured out, was offering a lower cost will book more weddings. last year I booked 35 weddings, as of 2 weeks ago (5/7/18) I had 9 weddings for 2018, thus I decided at the Bridal Show in September 2018, my prices will be competitive to every other photographer in town.

I recently had a 70+ year old daughter ask me to restore her dad's picture.

She Googled Restoration and my name came up, what's funny, I do maybe

1 restoration job a year, yet I'm on page 1.  I do 30 weddings a year and

hired Main Street Host to boost my business name closer on Google to

page 1 and all they did is take my money and do nothing. As of last week,

I was on page 17. I complained for for a 4th time and tonight I'm moving

up, now on page 8.

The point of this story, don't pay someone over a thousand dollars to

promise you placement,  that may not deliver.  Take it upon yourself to

learn SEO and do it for yourself and create your own placement.

How does a photographer know what to charge a Bride and Groom for there Wedding Package?  Accept for 2 years ago, Boswell Photo has always been known as an "Undercutter" in the Wedding prices department. In my mind, I'm not undercutting a Bride who can't afford the higher prices that other studio's charge. So I feel my prices are perfect, but in case I was wrong, 2 years ago I did a study on pricing. I raised my prices across the board and started another Wedding Photography Business with prices even higher than my Boswell Photo prices I raised over $500.00 each package. With the new business name, I created a different website, different phone number, flyers, business cards with a total investment of just under $1,000.00 and did it work? No!  During an 11 month period, investing over $4,000.00 in advertising for Boswell Photo and Wedding Photography by Chris, I receive 8 phone calls, 3 consultations and booked 1 bride through the second business name.

After 11 months, I lowered my packages to where they haven't really changed in over 10 years and booked 35 weddings in 2017.  So the moral of the study, higher prices I'd go bankrupt, lower prices work, correct? You'd say of course! This years my prices are as low as last year and I only have 8 weddings as of this post. My competition says raise your prices and you'll book more, I did that already and booked less. Bookings to this point are lower than normal and some say it could be your reviews.

Hello and welcome to our Blog.

I don't do a lot of posts, as being the Sole Proprietor and taking care of every aspect of my business and making sure every Bride, Groom, Senior, Parents, etc... are happy with every aspect of their experience with Boswell Photo.

This post is about what type of photographer am I?

I do a lot of photo journalism during a wedding day, meaning I step back and catch in the moment as it happens throughout the day. I also do a lot of posing which many clients love and many do not. Within this post you will see a series of pictures of a Bride reading here fiance letter and then opening his gift, this is journalism, meaning, I don't get involved in telling the Bride how to pose or react, I just let her show her true emotions of this moment. 

I can do any aspect any client wants me to. Because I'm often known as the poser photographer, I can do any type of picture and that's also because of the 27 years experience I have.

I still love what I do and have no plans on retiring anytime soon.

This Post is directed towards Weddings and how clients think.

I love creating great pictures, great memories and a great relationships with every Bride, Groom, their Parents, Families and Guests and give them a great experience they will enjoy throughout the day and remember forever. Some clients know matter how well I treat them, they will always find negativeness in what I do or say.


1) I complimented a mother of the Groom at a wedding in April 2017, the Bride thought I was flirting with her. I don't flirt with anyone and have to choose my words better in the future or stop complimenting people. Saying the same exact words to a Bride, she said it's not flirting, it's expected. Explain that? Talking with many brides about this situation, none of them thought I was flirting.

2) A 2017 Bride said, "I was rude to her family during outdoor pictures and to guests that were taking there own pictures."  Brides hire me because I keep to the timeline and that I direct very well and keep things moving along. Hundreds if Brides, Grooms and there families have complimented me on this over my 27 year career. So know I wasn't being rude, I was trying to keep to there specific timeline to get done in a timely manner.

It doesn't matter if I get 1 complaint or now at 14 over my career, 1 is to many. It doesn't matter what it is, putting my logo on a picture to eating dinner at a wedding, during a 16 hour day. I work hard to keep me on top and when someone complains, it drops you down a few pegs, but I learn from them and improve.

A competitor who has a 4.9 Star rating of which 42 Brides gave his Studio 5 Stars and only 2 brides complained. He mentioned he hates when clients try to hurt his family business.  Now this same photographer, posted on one of my sites, acting as a client of mine, using his email address and made negative comments about me. I called the administrator and had to prove to them this was another studio, they confirmed and removed the posting. Because you see a negative comment about Boswell Photo, don't always mean it's from a actual client as many competitors will post comments or have there clients do it for them to make a competitor look bad.

I have been in this business for over 27 years, that alone states my reliability, integrity, trust and passion for what I do. I have treated people right for 27 years and have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau, the place to complain about a business and yet I have had Zero complaints from 2014 to 2018. Even the BBB said this is unusual. 4 years in a row and not one single client complained to them about Boswell Photo. This fact alone shows you, that I am one of the best at what I do.
